22 250 loads fast twist

I'm looking to load some 55 gr VMAX or ballistic tips in my 9 twist. What are my best powder choices looking to get .5 accuracy. I tried this once before but it eluded me. Rifle is capable of. 5 moa.

I once had a 9 twist .22-.250 and used either 53 gr. VMax or 68 gr. Hornady HPBT bullets. IMR 8208 for the 53's & H4350 for the 68's. RL 16 is another possibility for 68-69 grain bullets in a 9 twist .22-.250. The 53 VMax's were incredibly flat shooting up to 400 and I shot lots of rodents with the 53VMax/IMR8208 combo. I also shot down Silhouette chickens at 1/2 section (880) with the 68H HPBT/H4350 combo.

I have loads for 68 gr. And 53 vmax use H380 for the 53 VMAX. VERY Accurate. But I have a lot of 55 gr. VMAX and 55 gr. NOSLER. Wonder if anyone has ever tried loads with those.

I used h380 with some 55grn sx hornadys in my 8 twist. I wouldn't stress the twist for 55s. I need to try the 60grn sierra TMK in mine.

What do you mean stress the twist? I prefer not to use H380, because it is temp sensitive. I know it might work.

I shoot 55 SBKs in a 9 twist. IMR 4064, IMR 4166 and CFE 223 all shoot very well in my gun near book max.

RL15 in a 22-250 is a great combo. It's right there with 4064 and Varget. I've used it from 50gr up to 75. AR Comp does well with heavier bullets too.

RL15, imr 4064 both excellent. 4320 is another sometimes overlooked powder that
can do very well in 22-250.

Sierra has a new load book, it has your H380 as it’s accurate load for 55 grain loads ,Obviously you tried it but didn’t get acceptable accuracy. Here are my two favorite powders to use with 55 grain bullets in a 22-250.

Varget (CCI primers)
Ramshot Big Game. (Wolf primers)

I have one I am selling. Personally I don't care for the floating lug. And getting a great shooting load hasn't happened yet.

RL-16 and a 75 gr Speer Gold Dot with Lapua brass and a CCI 200 will cut holes. The tightest ES was at 3,126 fps. That's seating the GDs .020 off the lands. I found another tight load at a higher node but was hard to extract. That was at 3,241 fps....I don't recommend going this high.

Tikka is gone. Traded it and some cash yesterday for a Brand new Browning. Good riddence.
