22-250 load in a Sako 75?

I just bought a like new Sako 75 in 22-250, I am hoping to shoot either the Nosler 55BT or the Sierra 55 SBT's. What powder or loads are recommended. I don't have any VV powders.

I've loaded virtually everything in a 22-250 and ended up right back to 3031, 33-33 1/2gr is about where you want to be.

My savage 22-250 like a nice healthy diet of varget behind the 53 gr vmax. I don't have my notes in front of me but i believe it is around 35.9gr varget. Work up to this load if you try it, it is very near max (but still safe) for my rifle so be cautious. Gun will hold .25 moa out to 400 with this load

Doubt if his 1:14 twist Sako will stabilize the 53 gr. V-Max. Was thinking about trading my R700 for a Savage so I can shoot the 53s. .25 m.o.a. @ 400 yards? I definitely am going to now!

I have always had good luck with H-380 and I really like H-414 in my 22-250's.I always liked the fact that Savage chose to offer a 9 twist 22-250
MahtewsSB is your rifle a 12 or a 9?Thats damn good shooting.

I didn't see where it said his was a 1:14 and i didn't look into it. But yes you are right, that might have trouble stabilizing the 53 vmax. Mine is a 1:12. And load development is key with any rifle to get it to shoot that well, as well as the guy pulling the trigger. I figure that is plenty good enough for coyote detail haha. Have yet to shoot one with that combo that wasn't DRT. I can't remember my velo but i think it is around 3805 and that is coming from a 22" tube. As mentioned before, if you try this load work up to it slowly as it is very close to max which i believe is why it shoots so well because most rifles seem to shoot best near max loads with full case capacity.

mine is just the ole 10/110 trophy hunter package. which i immediately sold and replaced the nikon that it came with and put a 6.5-20x44 vortex viper on it. if i had the money i would like to even upgrade that with a NF but i dont see a need either really. don't fix it if it aint broke right?

IMR 4064 is a powder that is popular with 22-250. Doesn't meter real well but
makes up for this in its performance. Start low & work up.

Weight of the brass will matter to some extent...Way Back in the day I used Sierra 55 Gr semi-pointed #1350 bullets [unsorted] R-P Brass & CCI primers w IMR 4064 to shoot my first one hole group...start at 34 grains move up couple of tenths each time till you find your sweet spot..mike in ct

My .250 is a 12 twist and shoots tiny groups with 36.0 grains of Varget and Sierra 1320 55 grain soft points over a CCI 200. Groundhogs at 450 yards are no problem.

I have had my best results in this bullet weight range with RL-17. IMR 8208XBR has been a close second and may be a better choice if temp stability is a top priority. My best loads produce 3900+ with RL-17 and 3850ish with 8208 from a 26" barrel.

I just picked up a 75 varmint model, with the laminated stock. I had some Ammo loaded from previous 22-250 I had. 52hp Berger, flat base. IMR 4064, 34.7 grains. It shot amazing. I probably won't be playing with loads any. image.jpegimage.jpeg

Dans, you didn't happen to buy the one that dtucker had listed a while back did you? It was a good price, if I'd had the money I would have snatched it up quickly!!

My .220 Swift, and my 22-250, both have 14" twists, and both will shoot the 53 V-Max into 1/3 moa at 400 yds, but you need to drive them hard - starting loads may look like crap.
