Doubt if his 1:14 twist Sako will stabilize the 53 gr. V-Max. Was thinking about trading my R700 for a Savage so I can shoot the 53s. .25 m.o.a. @ 400 yards? I definitely am going to now!My savage 22-250 like a nice healthy diet of varget behind the 53 gr vmax. I don't have my notes in front of me but i believe it is around 35.9gr varget. Work up to this load if you try it, it is very near max (but still safe) for my rifle so be cautious. Gun will hold .25 moa out to 400 with this load
I didn't see where it said his was a 1:14 and i didn't look into it. But yes you are right, that might have trouble stabilizing the 53 vmax. Mine is a 1:12. And load development is key with any rifle to get it to shoot that well, as well as the guy pulling the trigger. I figure that is plenty good enough for coyote detail haha. Have yet to shoot one with that combo that wasn't DRT. I can't remember my velo but i think it is around 3805 and that is coming from a 22" tube. As mentioned before, if you try this load work up to it slowly as it is very close to max which i believe is why it shoots so well because most rifles seem to shoot best near max loads with full case capacity.Doubt if his 1:14 twist Sako will stabilize the 53 gr. mine is just the ole 10/110 trophy hunter package. which i immediately sold and replaced the nikon that it came with and put a 6.5-20x44 vortex viper on it. if i had the money i would like to even upgrade that with a NF but i dont see a need either really. don't fix it if it aint broke right?I have always had good luck with H-380 and I really like H-414 in my 22-250's.I always liked the fact that Savage chose to offer a 9 twist 22-250
MahtewsSB is your rifle a 12 or a 9?Thats damn good shooting.
