22-250 load data?

I just rebarreled my 22-250 with a schnieder 8 twist polygonal barrel and would like to know some good loads some of may have cooked up for this twist and caliber?

I was hoping to get some bullet powder recomendations being as no reloading manual has loads for the heavy bullets

Built my 8 twist many years ago and had a devil of a time figureing out what powders to use(the 75Amax was the intended bullet)
The Hornady #7 list loads for the 75 and 80 grain bullets but from the testing I did several years ago their max loads are WAY over max!
Long way around the barn but the 8 twist I have likes H414 with the 75 Amax and very little else, start around 33 grains and work up to 3300fps + or - a little.
If your used to a 22-250 shootin 50 grainers this is a whole new animal!!

I've been shooting 55 gr. Nosler BT in my 9 twist 22-250 with a 26" barrel. I have just been working out of the Hodgdon book and letting the paper tell the story. I have had really good luck with max loads of Varget, 36.5 grains and jumping the bullet .005". Have not shot any heavier bullets than 55 grain. I could be talkin out of line here as I am not sure that an 8 twist is a bit much for 55 grain bullets.

Mike: Still somewhat limited I know, but the 2008 edition of my Hodgdon loading manual, page 85 shows bullet weights up to 70 gr., so at least some place to start. Maybe their new 2010 edition will go higher?

If you are using 80 gr bullets try 4350 or Rx-17 at max loads...and YOU will have to find your own max...every gun is different......Roger

Good News for all .22-250 Remington reloaders (and wildcatters)!! Lapua will be introducing .22-250 Remington unprimed cartridge cases for introduction in the Spring of 2010!!!

I'm in Canada and have already ordered 500 rounds from my Canadian supplier who says I'll have it sometime late January - early February 2010
Get a hold of YOUR Lapua supplier and tell him what you want !
