I have a 788 in 6BR that used to be a 22-250. Just filled the clip and tried it again to check feeding. No good, the stubby case tips up too far and interferes when extracting a case. Maybe a real gunsmith could bend the ears of the clip a bit but there is not much metal to work with.

I haven't shot the rifle very much, but did make a one shot kill on a doe antelope at a lazered 400+ yards.

What you have sounds like a great rifle, too bad it does not get used!
