22-250 from 243

I was just wondering if you could reform 243 brass into 22-250 say you wanted thicker necks on 22-250 brass could you form them from 243 lapua brass and turn the necks down. Thanks

Yes this is possible, but I'd rather use Fed or Rem brass than Lapua brass, this will require lots of torque. You might consider using 6.5X47 Lapua cases instead, you would move less brass and you would automatically get your false shoulder...
And last, use Imperial Sizing Wax, available now from Redding.
Take Care.

Rich,
You may need a big press, the base or web area on the 22-250 is a couple of thousandths smaller then the 308, 243 case web area. I am not sure what this difference means in resizing and chambering. All my 6XC cases fire formed from 22-250 cases looked like cases with a rebated web. Have you tried doing one?

I re-sized 5 Win 243 cases on my Rockchucker with a old rcbs 22-250 die then trimmed them to length and ran them through my redding body die and seated 5 60gr vmax's and measured the necks.
my win 22-250 brass measured .252 and my re-sized 243 brass measured .258 so their is plenty to trim. I also measured the web area of my 22-250 cases .463 and my re sized 243/22-250 brass it was .465 and this is all new unfired Winchester brass, unsized 243 brass was also .465) I was just doing this to see if I could make up some better brass for my Savage LRPV I don't even know if it is even really worth but most of the 22-250 brass I've tried has been pretty crappy I even tried some Norma brass and the necks weren't any better than the win brass.
