22-250 / Bullet Depth / OK to shoot

I have a lot of 22-250 rds that I seated the bullet ( 50 gr Vmax) deeper than what I'm using now with a new barrel. My friend has 22-250 and was thinking of letting him use them on prairie dogs. I'm thinking there will be some bullet jump.
Is there a "max" limit to seating depth? Should he just shoot a few and see how they shoot? Do I need to provide more information?

If you have the Hornady set up to measure the seating depth of the rifle in question, go thru that process and compare the loaded ammo and what the Hornady tells you. Will give you some info to compare. Will your loaded rounds fit his rifle w/o any issues?? Are your loaded rounds "hot" or mild loads??

What works in one rifle does not mean success in another rifle. JMO

Pressure wise you will probably be safe ad seating depth is hardly a hard fast number. You might be very surprised how far you can jump a bullet and still get great groups.

I shot this load for ~3000 rds in my factory savage.. It shot well.. I have not tried them in his rifle. He lives 110 miles from me. I'll see if I can get his rifle and see how it does.. I'll do some measurements and post.

Most of the 22-250 coal list 2.350, I run tipped 50-55 gr bullets at 2.375 in several FACTORY barrels. My minimum saami custom barrels are shorter, some under 2.350, which is an issue for running certain brands of factory ammo. I mostly shoot Hornady,Nosler.

Here’s a tip for using that bullet puller. Forget the collets and just use a case holder. It will fit fine and it doesn’t keep falling apart…
