New 22-250

Since no one mentioned it (Hodgdon Data Manual No. 26): "H380 was an unnamed spherical* rifle powder when Bruce Hodgdon first laid his hands on it. After he shot a few rounds in his Varminter (a wildcat at that time now known as the 22-250) and found it shot one hole groups with a 38 gr. charge behind a 52 gr. bullet, he named the powder after the charge weight, thus H380."

* The term "spherical powder" has been registered by Hodgdon Powder Company.

Still a great load and nothing wrong with it, just slower and easier on barrels (about 3,500 fps) than most popular powders of today...especially CFE 223 at 3,930 fps. at max load, which is a little hot for most rifles. I get 3,840 fps with a 52-grain bullet a full grain below listed max and decent case life.

My old 22-250 load was 41/H380/40 sierra hp. 3850 fps .200" groups
