22-250 AI Groundhog loads

Except for maybe the Blitz or SX type bullets, doubt you'll have any problems with lighter bullets in the 8-twist 22/250 AI. I've shot many 53 and 55 gr bullets through the 8-twist Krieger barrel on the 22X47L without any blow up problems. Was surprised at how many of the loads shot with good accuracy. Vic

Just ran across a deal on 500 vmax 53 grain bullets. Apparently they didn't shoot well for the fella that had them. Hopefully my gain. Been getting alot of good reports of guys using them in 8 twist 22-250 guns and really liking the way they shoot.

I bet with all that RPM spun up, a 53 from a 1:8 will make a nice mess o' Jell-O!

14 twist barrels shoot 52 and 53gr bullets better... i had one that did it. Mine now has a 12 twist and i gotta shoot 60gr+ to keep it tight grouping

Don't be afraid to try the Sierra 55 blitzkings several of my 22 cal rifles really liked that bullet and it's accounted for plenty of fox and coyotes, but oddly the 53gr max has a higher bc than most of the splatter bullets

Very soon I will be having a 22-250 AI chambered with a Krieger HV 12 twist barrel. This will be used mostly for groundhogs and crows and I really would like to shoot the 53gr. V-Max.

I am looking for info. on some loads to try out to approx. 400yds. or a little further.

The powders I current have on hand are IMR4895, H380, A2700, Varget and H4350.

Imr4895 at 36.6 with 55 Sierra bthp was 3860 out of my Savage target action with 26" , 12 twist Krieger , it was wicked accurate and deadly. 783 was my furthest ground hog.
