I am looking for some 218 Bee brass, I seem like my only source is a place call Sportsmans Reloads, is that place for real or could someone point me in the right direction for a in stock source?
Your best bet is watching the classifieds or that famous auction site. I bought some NOS stuff there, but honestly new 32-20 is much higher quality.I am looking for some 218 Bee brass, I seem like my only source is a place call Sportsmans Reloads, is that place for real or could someone point me in the right direction for a in stock source?
Um here's your answer... definitely a scammer site... I checked some others that had it in-stock, all obvious scammer sites. One takes credit cards, but after running it up to 10 count and not hitting their stock limit I figured it's a card skimming site. Sure enough some searches on them showed people in the past made purchases of in-stock, never received it and never were charged. This is what a skimming site does, they are only there to get your cc info so they can sell it on the dark web later. Thus the purchase being submitted with your info but no goods and no cc charge showing up on your cc account. Best to stick to known reputable places.I am looking for some 218 Bee brass, I seem like my only source is a place call Sportsmans Reloads, is that place for real or could someone point me in the right direction for a in stock source?
Im counting on being in the will, Uncle JDBe patient, and some will show up. A friend notified me that some was around here a couple months ago. There are also a lot of good brass scrounger/sellers over on the Cast Boolit Forum.
I've got a lifetime supply, but don't wanna cut loose of any -- but if you can out-live me, mine might come available.jd
The problem with this is the end case is shorter than the 218 Bee case and when you are fireforming to something like the HeBee or Mashburn Bee where the neck is already minimal it's even shorterI’ve been making 25-20 from new starline 32-20 brass. One more step down and you can make 218bee
I agree about the being puzzled by the Bee not surviving the Hornet.I've always been puzzled that the Bee wasn't the cartridge that took hold in preference to the Hornet. I doubt that accuracy of the two is any different in a bolt gun, and the case of the Bee is much sturdier and durable even though it is a little hotter by a few hundred fps.
I've been shooting this round for 46 years in the same rifle (Win 43), and that rifle and much of my brass was twenty years old when I got it. The man who blessed me with this gun, included about a thousand brass and bullets with it, so I've never been what you'd call short handed in that department. After I learned to quit sizing them so much, the brass started living very long life.
I shoot them all the way to "total failure", the point where the web cracks, sometimes leaving the case in the chamber and the rim ejected. God only knows how many times they've been fired at this point, and there is a good chance that Teddy Roosevelt used some of them to dispatch prairie dogs and such. I've actually got a partial box of factory loads that may have belonged to Teddy.
I've made some pretty good scores at our local gunshow over the years to enhance my supply, and consequently still have around a thousand, which will prolly get me to the grave. After that, I kind of hope that Jesus and I will find a little time to shoot squirrels. And I'd be OK if the rifle is a 218. jd
