20x45 or the 20 practical I built.

Got my 20 practical CBI 24" select SS bbl. this week. Installed it on my Savage action, accutrigger, stock varmint stock, Nikon 4.5-14x44 scope, EGW 1pc base.
Range today with these over my chrony @ 100yds
40g vmax, 24g h4198...................FAST!!!....& ..WAY TO HOT!!!, flat primers w/craters....Av fps was 4187 fps.....6 shots @ .626" I saw this load listed on many 20x45 sites for a nice load and they list it as 3950...its not in my gun!

40vm, 25g h335......................................3791 fps & nice primer....much better!
32g nosler varmegeddon, 20g h4198.........3434 fps.
40g berger, ...........................................3614 fps.
32g nbt, 25g h335..................................3958 fps.
35g berger, 23.5g h335...........................3445 fps.
32g barnes, 23g aa2015..........................forgot to write it down...should be about 3600 fps
30g berger, 24g blc2...............................3496 fps.

The 7 loads above (except for the top 40g vm load) all went into the same POA and grouped @ .396" It was getting dark so I just ran 1 shot of each load over the chrony at the target and was happy they all went into the same spot.

COL on all the above is 2.190". All trimmed to 1.750".
There is no free bore, rifling right to the neck & sharp.
Copper fouling was very light, cleaned up quickly.

20 Practical & Tactical are very close dimensions. Thus pretty much same powder column.
Defiantly try RL-10X.. 14yrs ago I got the 20 Tac and ran H4198. The accuracy was there, but ran into pressure issues before getting full efficiency of the cartridge. Started running RL-10x after it came out and never looked back. I would say 10X is preferred by majority of 20 Practical & Tac shooters. Saubier.com has a lot of good info..
I run 24.0gr 10X in the 20 Tac rifle

Hope some of this helps

I get very good results using 25.4 gr. of H322 w/ a 32gr V-Max.. And like tbeasley said, 20 Practical and Tactical are so close to having the same capacity, that I worked my load up using the data in the Hornady manual for the 20 Tactical..

Thanks all for the above info.
I sold the 20P barrel after a week of playing w/it, working up darned super accurate loads and using it on 2 p-dog shoots I have decided to stick w/the .22 cal size since I feel it just works better for how I shoot out here and my usages.
