Well I've always wanted to nitride a CM barrel and see what it does, got out early this morning and did some load development just picked a seating depth i may toy a little with that, ive never seen a CM change but I have SS barrels.
I had a pac nor 20 cal 3G 11 twist CM nitrided and im happy with the results, I believe I may nitride some CM barrels in the future.
I'm shooting the 34 gr midsouth bullet.

L.

I've been waiting for your report on your nitrided CM barrel.
I have a few things I would like to have nitrided.

Curious what it cost to have a barrel nitride coated?
Is the thinking on it that it makes it (1) harder surface, so less wear, and (2) have higher lubricity to the surface? It adds no thickness, unlike chrome lined. I like the Nitride AR barrels I've owned, makes them easy to clean, and I see no downside.
I think you can nitride a stainless barrel if I'm not mistaken?

Very nice, I found 2 jugs of the older Data 2200 the other day cleaning, is that similar to the powder you were using?

I really like the 221 FB case and it's derivatives, nice and efficient, low recoil and doesn't heat up too fast.

I'm not sure on the Data if its the same, I didn't start using 2200 untill it was branded Accurate powder.

I went through 8 8 pounders of the old label powder before accurate relabeled it, i saw no difference in the loading.. when i first got some, it was called a surplus powder and cost around $50 to $60. To quote Archie Bunker, "those were the days" I still have the powder handout that came with it.

I can't speak to what others think, I attached the front of the pamphlet where it talks on the speed comparing to other powders. I have probably been through close to 200lbs of 2200 in my lifetime, It's always possible I didn't pickup on any change in the formula outcome because in the early days, I was only using it in 223. like any powder, there can be changes.
