20ppc verse 22ppc

i've had a hankering for one of those 20PPC for a while myself. I'm waiting with baited breath to see what thoughts are added here.

If it is going to be varmint applied, then I'd say the 20 would be a bit superior with the BC increase. There seems to be a really decent selection of .20 pills now too.

I shoot a SAKO 6PPC factory sporter weight rifle also rebarreled a second SAKO AI 6PPC single shot with a 20 cal. Pacnor 1:12 and have really liked it.
The 20PPC is very accurate.

Think about the 20-220 Beggs, use same 220 Lapua brass, 2-3 grains less powder than PPC, maybe even out performs PPC? Shot mine for the first time last week crono-ed with 35P and second group avg. 4300 fps(32 gr Horn 25.5, Benchmark, forth group 4050 fps(35 Berger, 25.5 gr LT 32) Berger group was in the threes, I was so supprised I wasn't really concentrating at times!

Jack , what's your intended purpose . If it's something like Chucks or Pdogs under 400 Yards or so , I don't think it makes much difference . Way more choices of Bullets in 22 . If your thinking of Long Range Varmints , You're thinking of High BC Bullets . Maybe someone can run a Ballistics Program for the 22 Cal .53 GR. Vmax ( better BC than even their 60 Vmax ) against the best BC 20 Cal ....I don't know what that is ....maybe the Berger 55 .

Take a look at the 20 Grendel. It is a 2-step neck down from the 6.5 Grendel with throat set so the brass is no-turn.

While it was designed for the AR, one can run it at PPC pressures and get velocities between the PPC and the 20 BR. Use the 9-twist or faster barrel and you'll be able to use 55gr and heavier bullets have a flat-shooting wind-bucking cartridge.

The charts in this discussion were built using 50-52 ksi for the AR. Going to 58 ksi will add 100-150 fps.

I have my 20 PPC for 4 YEARS.
At the time I had a 220 Swift and a 22-250 both sat in the safe and were eventually sold of.
I run 40 Gr V-max at 4100 fps and everytime I use it I am impressed with its accuracy and ability to hold the wind.
Rabbits to 500 Metres are easy meat when I do the right thing.
The 22 PPC is in the bucket list BUT I cannot see myself with the 20 PPC.
