20BRA with Berger 55gr Bullets

what velocity and barrel length? I’m assuming it was a full case?

My barrel is 27” 9 twist and I stopped at 3725fps as the accuracy node was there.I will revisit this when I get into our new home and get settled and if I can find some appropriate powder.

I haven’t done too much shooting with this rifle yet,the round count is at 400.I was lucky finding an accurate load early on,all of the guns Greg Tannel has built for me seem to shoot well right away.This is a switch barrel Stiller action in a Shehane. Tracker,I have a 17PPC 7 twist Lilja that I shoot the Berger 37s in as well.I think when I get back into the 20 Dasher I will see if I can get closer to 3800fps,May try some custom made 50 grainers as well.

I have a 20x47 lapua shooting these 55 grain Berger’s. Talking to Todd kindler about it he stated to not get above 3800 FPS as he experienced bullet failures with a 9 twist Douglas barrel. I’m using a 8 twist benchmark with reloder 17 and it is super accurate for me. I’m right at what Todd considered max charge in his terrific twenties reloading book.

I would think that if a 9 causes bullet failure above 3800 a 8 would be worse, that being said is exactly why I chose a 9.

8 twist barrel at 3800 mv = 342,000 bullet rpm, 9 twist barrel at 3800 mv = 304,000 bullet rpm

how did you figure your rpm? Just curious.
