20BR Range Report

I put my new .204 Shilen select match barrel on my Savage target action yesterday and loaded up 20 cases with 29,29.5 and30 grains of Varget. I went to the range today and once I got it on paper I shot 3 into clover leaf and then had one go a little high and then #5 went into the clover leaf. Considering that this is the first time I have changed a barrel and necked down 6BR cases to 20BR I am very happy with the results. I can't wait until next year to try it on some PD's

If you have any load suggestions let me know. I was shooting 39 gr. SBK's from a 12 twist barrel. I have those same cases reloaded and will post a picture of the new results when I get them.

Benchmark is a winner....I used mollied boolitz in mine.

The bottom group is a .491 if you include the flyer.

It was North of 29

29.4/29.6 if I remember correctly,but don`t take my word on it,if you try this load with mollied boolitz reduce it and work up to what your rifle likes.

Mine routinely had 5 shot groups in the middle ones... ;D Just a pure pleasure to shoot.

HEY PHI,

I found some Benchmark today, and was wondering if you know of a good starting load for the 20BR without molly. I think I will see how it works.

Jimmy I love benchmark it works very well in all my 20brs. If you try to load to max first you will most likely have presher. Start slow work up slow small case makes presher fast. My go to gun wont take 30. Grn with 40 grn uncoated pill.
Love the cal killed a coyote at 449 yards last nite.
