.204 Ruger Factory Ammo -- Cheaper than Reloads?

I always like these questions. Why? What else are you going to do? Watch one more TV show you hate because your SO likes it? Play online doing nothing kind of like watching TV.

I guess since the op changed the title, I need to change my response. I reload because shooting almost 10,000 rounds a year at squirrels and prairie dogs, I get more accuracy and it cost less. but my right arm is definitely bigger from pulling the press handle sooooo many times..

WOW, I can't say I have ever seen that kind of hate spewed on this site before, I though that most here were better than this! The poster just posts what he though was a good buy, and I read what looks like a discussion of Trump with a Hillery fanatic. If they shoot well, which you stated 1/2" groups, then you got a bunch of brass to work with. I like to find buys on .17HH in 20 grain Vmax like that because it shoots nearly as good as any handloads in "my" gun, and gives me more brass to work with/ loose in the field. Not all factory ammo is bad guys, and some of it is found for not much more than you can reload it for. If your going on a high volume shoot, prairie dogs for instance, they can't tell the difference between me shooting them with Fiocchi .223 40 grain vmax rounds that print 5/8" and handloads that do 1/2".

I did the same last year. I have 2 204 Rugers, a custom built sporter by Dan Dowling and a Cooper MTV. The sporter shoots 5/8" groups with the Superformance ammo. My handloads using H335 and 32 gr Varmageddon bullets puts them into the same hole. The Cooper is another story. It shoots 1/4" groups with the Hornady ammo. So, I bought two cases of the Superformance ammo even though the sporter doesn't do quite as well with it. I'm quite busy at work these days and would normally reload but I just don't have much time to do so and when I do, I have several other guns chambered for improved rounds that require reloading. In my case, I will probably sell the brass and keep buying Hornady ammo until I have more time. The net cost is about break even.

I, for one, am glad that I have that option!
