204 Ruger chamber in a T/C encore

I'm thinking about purchasing a 15" encore pistol barrel in a 204 Ruger chamber. Can anybody give me any feed back on that combination, bullets, primers, or powder combination? Thanks for the help. First time poster!!

JMHO, Consider a .20 Vartag due to your abbreviated barrel length. Certainly would be less muzzle flash. My choice would be a .20 Ackley Bee due to it being a rimmed cartridge. Once again, JMHO.

In my experience, the .204 Ruger in a short "heavy" barreled (Striker 16") isn't much fun to shoot. Wild :o recoil and muzzle blast. Even down loaded -3 grains from max, it was real hard to tame. Even added a brake to see if it helped. Still not fun to deal with. :( Finally set the chamber back to 20 VT. Longer barrel? The .204 Ruger works as designed. You'll probably have to do it and see for yourself.
First off, the .204 Ruger was developed from the .222 Remington Magnun. That should give you an idea of what you'll be dealing with. Plan ahead. ;) YMMV.

clmorin,

I have a 223 in 14' Contender. If I load H335 ( my best rifle powder ) it has a blast like a 300 WM, but when loaded with H322. the speed is the same and not much blast. You need a powder that will burn up in the barrel. I like 39gr Blitkings for 20 cal. Try H322 and CCI 450 or BR4 primers. Recoil should not be a problem in the Encore. I have a 6BR 15" MGM barrel and 7MM-08 15" factory in an Encore.

Thanks for all the help, I have bought a 26" barrel and think about cutting it down to 15" and target crowning it. I love my t/c encore pistol barrels
