204 40gr BIBullet

Has anyone tried VV133 in a .204? It's all I use in three .20 Practicals. Randy's bullets have always shot the best.
One of my Practicals liked N133...my other one does better with 8208 or H4895...go figure! In my 204's, RL10X, 8208, CFE223 and A2520 performs well. Don't think I tried N133 in a 204.

Didn't get to check my velocity but 27.4 and 27.6 of 8208brx both grouped right at 1/2" for me yesterday at 2 00. Today they performed perfect on two big coyotes, tiny entrance, no exit and dead in their tracks. That's pretty much perfect for what I want to do!

Breakshunter, what rifle are you shooting? I can't remember what you told me you were shooting awhile back when I sent you some bullets. Are you shooting a 204 or 20Tac?

A "sleeper" powder is Win. 748: in my first .204 Ruger BBL, it ran 40 Gr. bullets at 3900 FPS
over the old, reliable Oehler, and at pressure which did not wreck the brass. The 748, for both velocity and precision, "blew N-133 and N-135 out of the water"! In the end though, for the best combination of V&P, the IMR 8208 XBR is proving tough to beat. RG

8208 XBR is getting more than few votes then. I have a .20 Tactical ready to run in and do some load development next year, and as luck would have it, still have some tins of 8208 (no longer available in the UK) back from when I used it in 308 Win. So, this is obviously one to try from the outset. I doubt if I would have considered it otherwise.

8208 is one of my "go to" powders for a lot of different calibers...if you cannot get it to shoot with 8208, it's a rarity. It seems to be very forgiving in the pressure department and produces very good velocities. Another powder that I like to go to is A2520...it works well in a lot of various 20cal cartridges...like the 204, 20Tac and 20ppc.

I am shooting a 204 with a trued Remington action, 12 twist custom barrel, I traded for the gun so I am unsure of the barrel maker, it was 26" but I cut it to 22" Remington varmint contour. I handles very nice for calling. I fit it into a sporter contour stock. I used to get 3950fps out of a 40gr berger with it at 26" with blc2 powder. It is shooting so dang good right now I am afraid to chronograph the load in case it is slower than I am hoping!

OK, yes I remember now you having it cut down to 22". I would not chrono it either...keep shooting it and forget the numbers.

I have 2 savages 1 w/ krieger barrel 1 w/criterion barrels 26" 1 in 11,have had great sucess with varget,win-748,imr xbr 8208. Try H 4198 or IMR 4198. Pressure peaks fast. Start about 21.5 and work up.

They've been unavailable in the UK for the last two or three years ........... and now as of 1st June this year, they and about 30 other Hodgdon and IMR powders cannot be imported into Europe at all thanks to new health and safety regulations.

:( :(

Thank you for taking the time to suggest them though.

I use 8208 exclusively for the .204. Is it possible to get 100 of these bullets to test? How explosive are they? My 1-10 LOVES the 40 Vmax but I am always looking.
