In early 2022, we lost a great shooter, friend, and all-around great gentleman. Billy Copelin was a long time NBRSA long range shooter who won the 2009 1000 Yard Nationals winning every category - except one. Billy held numerous long-range records and is a distinguished member of the NBRSA Long Range Hall of Fame. Billy was a life member of Upper Nisqually Sportsmen’s Club (UNSC) - Eatonville, WA. When Billy shot the monthly UNSC 600 Yard club matches - he would always come early and setup/shoot on Bench #7. To remember Billy, the LR shooters @ UNSC dedicate the final match of the year in his honor.

We had a good turnout for our end-of-the-year Christmas/Holiday - Billy Copelin Memorial - WA ST 600 Yard Championship Match. We welcome Steve Poole and Allan Kamke who are first time NBRSA 600 match shooters. Thanks to all who helped and guided them through the match! We hope to see them again at future club 600 matches as well as NBRSA registered matches.

We were lucky to dodge the numerous storms rolling through the PNW the past 2 weeks which resulted in catastrophic flooding and widespread power outages. Originally forecasted to be rainy morning with winds gusting to 25 - we ended up with cloudy/overcast skies, minimum mirage, no rain, and winds generally in the 5-10 mph range. Although we didn't have any wind gusts to 25 - we did have the wind changing directions throughout the match, so shooters had to be diligent of the flags.

Even with the funky wind conditions – we had several shooters who waited patiently for their “condition” to return and shot some great groups/scores. Congrats to David Benson for shooting a LG screamer group of 0.908. Four (4) of those shots printed a cloverleaf measuring .311 inches!

It was a very close match with four different shooters winning the four aggregate categories. The overall winner is Craig Matthew – Congrats Craig on your consistent shooting throughout the entire match!

After the match, we held a random drawing for Holiday/Christmas gifts. Everyone left with a holiday gift.

Thanks for posting the results, I often think of Billy and how I enjoyed his company. He was always helpful and willing to share information in his light hearted manner.

Congrats to all the shooters.
