Hokey Smokes Bullwinkle! It was HOT out there this weekend. And muggy –really, muggy doesn’t begin to describe it. Yet, we had a great turnout! 45 shooters on the line in this kind of weather is a very good thing –thank you all for coming out to shoot with us.

A big Bridgeville welcome to ‘new to us’ shooters Russ Jones, Dave Berlinski, Stephen Hall, and Robert Eichorst. I hope you had a good enough experience with us that we see you all again soon.

As always, a big thank you to Nikki and George for keeping the range up, and helping us nearly every day. We couldn’t do this without them. Thank you too, to everyone who helped with setup and teardown of the targets –it is a lot of work (especially in this heat), and is much appreciated.

As a side note, this weekend is the 10th anniversary of our HEXTA targets –they have taken a pounding (over 410,000 shots through them so far), and are still working great.

Ok, OK, on to the results…

In F-Open, Gwen Basalla took the Bronze medal with a nice 1185-48X. Nice shooting, Gwen! Shoot like a girl –if you can, right? Gwen was pretty consistent today, with 198-8, 197-9, and 197-7.
Taking home the Silver medal, was Mike Eash, who shot a nice 1187-53X aggregate. Mike had two cleans today (200-9 and 200-8). Good Shooting, Mike!
Winning the Gold medal was Matt Basalla, firing a very nice 1191-53X. Matt was right up there with all six of his scores this weekend. Nice work, Matt!

Lots of other folks had great scores too, but I need to mention Herb Egberts. He has been riiiiiiiigggght next to High Master scores in the past, but it looks like he made it this weekend –well done, Herb! It looks like Robert Eichorst made it as well! Movin’ on up, guys!

In F-T/R, Todd Strasavich walked away with the Bronze medal, firing a nice 1170-40X with his trusty .308. Well done, Todd!
In a continuation of the ‘Battle of the Todd’s’, Todd Norfleet won the Silver medal by firing a solid 1173-41X with HIS trusty .308! Well done, young man!
Both of those guys are pretty solid, and always a threat to take the win, but this weekend Bryan Glanden took the Gold medal (and High F-T/R trophy) home. Bryan fired a nice 1177-43X –well done, Bryan!

Another side note –relatively new shooter, Rayfield Duffy posted a personal best 187-3X this weekend. He is making solid progress, and I am sure will continue down that path. Well done!

There is one more F-Class shooter to mention, and that is Jack Neith. Jack took home the F-Class Overall Win, firing a very nice 1194-67X. Jack is now also the reigning 2025 Delaware F-Class State Champion! Well done, Jack! Oh, he takes home a pretty nice trophy too!

OK, now, onto the sling side of things!

In Any Rifle, Jon Howell took home the Bronze medal, firing a solid 1178-53X. As always, nice shooting, Jon! Jon mixed it up this weekend, shooting a .243 on Saturday, and a .223 Palma rifle on Sunday.
Taking the Silver medal out for a spin is Dave Kerin. Dave came down from PA, thinking the weather would be nice and cool J. Not so much, but he fired a nice 1179-50X for that Silver. Well done, Dave!
Taking home the Gold medal today was John Kiley, who shot a very nice 1186-50X. John’s scores were solid all weekend. Well done!

One more sling shooter to go, and that is Jim Cronin –all that smallbore shooting must be working, ‘cause he fired a very nice 1187-47X for the sling Overall Win, and the title of Delaware Conventional Prone State Champion. Well done, Jim!

I think that about covers the highlights –there were a lot of good scores shot this weekend, in spite of or because of the heat, I don’t know, but great shooting none the less. I hope everyone had a good time, and that we see you all again soon.
Results will be posted to the club website soon; https://brpc-de.com/high-power-rifle/

Our next match is a Mid-Range ‘Team Challenge’ match to be held on July 12th and 13th. This is a no payout match –all proceeds (minus NRA fees) go to DSSA to help fund our ongoing legal battles.

The match format is two string-fired 20 shot matches at 600 yards, followed by a two-man team match, also at 600 yards.

Hope to see you all on the firing line!

Frank
