I want to thank Rick, Vaughn and the rest of the guys for an EXTREMELY well run match! The fellowship with the the shooters there was great as always. Great match, great competition and an excellent range! It does not get any better than Palo Alto!

Thanks to everyone for another successful Regional. Congratulations to all the winners.

For those making their first trip to shoot with us, thank you and please come back.

After this weekend, everyone who was there knows why PA is known as "The Hornet's Nest."

Ben- we will miss you!

Thank you Vaughn and Rick! This was my first time at your range and I will be back! Excellent, well run match and great competition! Congrats to the winners for the impressive shooting in "challenging" conditions.

The 2016 Spring Regional is in the books. I would first like to thank Rick Stewart for working tirelessly in the pits all weekend, and also for guiding me through my first match as Match Director (I’ve learned from the best). Also thanks go to Gerald Boudreaux, Glen Padgett, Mickey Brinkman, and Gary Henry for assisting in the pits when not shooting or scoring. Thanks to Mr. Joe Mistretta for helping keep the line in order all weekend. And finally, thanks to Mrs. Tammy Stewart for keeping the stats all weekend.

Fifty-Six shooters showed up to battle it out against each other and the elements, which tested even the veteran shooters. Shooters came from Texas, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, and Louisiana.

Saturday welcomed shooters with what began as a somewhat manageable wind condition and the temperatures in the mid 50’s and climbing to the low 70’s. By the end of the day the winds had increased to where the flags were often tipping up and changing from full value to half or even quarter value and back to full so quickly that it was difficult to make a good wind call. Sunday started out with absolutely perfect conditions, temperatures were in the low to mid 40’s and the wind was almost non-existent. This calm didn’t last for long as the winds picked up a little and became relatively light and variable for the remainder of the day making for some very challenging conditions.

Although the conditions were extremely challenging there were 26-200’s shot, twelve of which were in the first relay on Sunday. One of the 200’s, 200-18x shot by Norman Harrold, is one X off of tying a National Record of 200-19x.

Sixteen shooters competed in Prone, at the end of the first day Kenny Porter had a 5 shot lead over Randy Nash. In the end Kenny finished out the match with a total score of 1194-57x to take the Gold Medal. Bill Jenkins took Silver with an 1188-55x and David Van Bramer took Bronze with an 1187-54x.

1st High Master was Warren Freeman with an 1187-51x. Randy Nash took 2nd High Master with an 1183-58x. David Bay was 1st Master with an 1167-49x and Sam Entrican was 1st in Expert with an 1143-37.

On the F-Class Open side there were 21 shooters. Shawn Broussard had a 3 shot lead over Kevin Shepherd at the conclusion of day one. Shawn went on to drop only 1 point on day two to take the Gold Medal with an 1193-58x. Kevin Shepherd took Silver with an 1189-56x and William Whitman took Bronze with an 1188-57x. Jim Suber took 1st High Master with an 1187-60x and David Decareaux took 2nd High Master with an 1184-51x.

On the F-TR side there were 19 shooters. Craig Martin had a commanding 10 shot lead by the end of the first day over Jade Delcambre. Craig never let up on day two and took the Gold Medal with an 1189-51x. Jade Delcambre took Silver with an 1178-53x, and Alton Britt took Bronze with an 1177-44x. Tony Arcement took 1st High Master with an 1170-48x, Glen Padgett took 2nd High Master with an 1165-42x (having just made High Master 3 days before the match). Erik Kliebert to 1st Master with an 1152-31x. Kent Hall took 1st in Expert/Sharpshooter/Marksman class with an 1149-27x.

Our next big match is the Champions de la Louisianne (Louisiana Championship) in October. Contact Rick Stewart for more information about registration.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and great shooting by all.

Great shooting by everyone. The cooperation and appreciation shown by all those involved made running and calling this match a joy. I was glad to see so many new to Palo Alto shooters show up and hope that you will return.

Kudos to Vaughn and the crew for a very well ran match. We truly enjoyed our weekend in Louisiana. We may not have brought home any prizes but we did make some great memories. It's always a fun time when we spend it with good friends and meet some new folks. And then there is always excitement traveling with our group, especially keeping up with "Rope2horns"! Almost mixed some paint a time or two:).
