I shouldn’t have said an amount they could earn without facts. I had just heard that in general conversation and that usually has the truth stretched.

I understand all that but it still isn't possible or even close. My paychecks tell me it's not possible with the current pay. Calculating out 60hr weeks every week never taking a day off still makes it off by quite a big number.

A couple of actual UPS drivers have said it's not possible, but how do you think
the internet gets so full of BS. I heard this or I heard that. lol
We had one driver that had to pay $14,000 back to the company for not going by
company policy or lose his job. Involved theft of firearms at a gun shop.

I know you're talking about UPS but About 20 years ago, a guy I knew who was a dealership mechanic had a neighbor who was a USPS letter carrier. Said letter carrier convinced the guy to apply at the USPS as a mechanic. The guy got interviewed, tested both written and performance based, and finally offered a job. He told me the top pay for a mechanic, after x-number of years of employment, was less than of 70% of what a letter carrier was paid.

By the end of the new contract, full-time UPS delivery drivers will make an average of $49 per hour, which works out to nearly $102,000 per year, assuming a 40-hour workweek, 52 weeks a year. Those employees are guaranteed an eight-hour workday.
Now with over time which is mandatory during their peak with just 4 hours overtime a day 6 days a week that would be $197.568 for those with seniority so very possible.

I don't doubt it with the USPS. They has plenty of vehicles in their carpool so if something breaks down, they grab a different one. The UPS has far fewer vehicles assigned to a given hub and, if a truck goes down, they want it back up and on the road yesterday.
I have heard UPS mechanics don't even try to fix major components anymore. The company has warehouses filled with axle assemblies, engines, transmissions, etc. If something breaks, they don't bother to diagnose anything other than to the component level, they unbolt the broken component, grab a new (possibly a re-manufactured) assembly and bolt it in.
I am not sure if they have centers where they rebuild those broken assemblies or, if rather than taking a chance on a mechanic missing something, they just sell the pieces for salvage and buy new assemblies.
I am familiar with another guy, who is also on the forums. He is a maintenance mechanic (I guess he is called a mechanic) for Fedex. He doesn't work on vehicles but, instead, on all the sorting and conveyor systems in one of the bigger hubs in the country. He makes VERY good money because, there again, if a conveyor line goes down, it needs to be back up and running quickly.
Quick story. I ordered a nice custom set of wheels for my Harley off a guy on Ebay.
A week or so later, I am out in my driveway working and FedEx pulls up to deliver them. I am not really paying attention but I see the guy walking slowly up my driveway with a big box pinned up against his side. He walks up to me, pauses and just tosses the box on the ground next to me. I look at the box and it is torn apart and the rims are clearly showing through the tears. I look at the driver who didn't walk away immediately and he is staring at me with a smirk on his face and chewing gum...almost like he was happy about it. After a couple seconds he turns and starts walking away. I called out to him and said WTF, my rims were destroyed. He looked over his shoulder while continuing to walk away and said "file a claim".
If I remember right, I couldn't file a claim, the shipper had to do it. I filed a dispute with Ebay and they refunded my money pretty much immediately. The seller filed a claim with Fedex and it was denied because they were not packed well enough.
In their defense, they were not packed great but, they should have made it without any significant damage. In this case, they had been dragged around so much that the hub was abraded off about 1/2 inch on one side and it looked like a belt sander had been used on the entire circumference of the rim where the tire met the wheel. I still don't know how they managed to damage them as bad as they had. It had to be intentional but, I have no idea why.
I have never seen something damaged that severely in transport. Sadly though, Fedex is still probably the most reliable shipping company in my area. The USPS is absolutely the worst, UPS has it's ups and downs but, other than that one incident, Fedex has made it mostly on time and with little to no damage.

I do. Have for 10 years. By the end yeah 49 but that's 4 years away. This number assumes 3 2working 6 days a week during Christmas time- I'm not sure who works 72 during Christmas. We've been approved once (1 week) in my career to work 70 hours from the state per DOT. I guess people don't get sick- have any emergencies and work through every vacation and personal days... If people are working 60 hours per week ALL year...more power to them. They must like to work and do absolutely nothing else in life because there is no time for anything. You can try to take the most drastic extreme for a person to come up to this number to stretch to get there but I still don't see a person doing this- much less year after year.
People can read/believe what they want. I know what reality is. I don't know why I care haha it's a job that allows my wife to stay home with all the 4 (almost 5) kids. Live in our cheap house at the time and be able to enjoy raising them where they can play in the dirt and grow to enjoy the outdoors hunting/shooting/fishing and raising our own meats veggies and milk.

I kind of thought you did when you mentioned pay checks. also, I did say it is possible. when I get deliveries at 7-8 pm from my regular delivery driver it tells me he must be working OT a lot.

Yeah since last year they changed things and not for the better. I used to enjoy getting done by 3-4 and 5 was late. They changed how long we had to be on road by quite a bit. Completely changed how it used to be and now 6 is an early day and some days 9. Yes it's overtime for sure.
Thank you. Me as well, it has just changed drastically and not for the better for the family time.
