20 VarTarg vs 20 Practical

20 VT:
These are 40 VMax's, CFE BLK, CCI 400s, LC brass turned but not yr sorted @ 3400 fps.

Rifle is blue printed 700 and X Caliber 11T, 3 groove.

40s thrive PD'n at 100-300 but I'll stretch them out to 400 occasionally rather than switch to 223. I have couple 1000 32's to try this year for the VT.

What a great little cartridge, and some fine shooting on your part! I need to stop reading about this or it's going to cost me money. Lol

Rick, I agree, at 100-300 yds I still see an explosive effect, but at 400 yds the VT is basically poking a hole in the PD. That’s why I’m working on a new project in a 20P. Right now I’m in the load development phase. I thought I had a good powder chosen with N133, but I kept having bridging problems with the 550 Dillon powder funnel.

.David I've had similar 550/650 powder funnel issues. In my case it was CFE BLK and CFE 223 fine powder granules sticking to powder funnel walls. Solved it by reaming my funnels with an 11 degree reamer thereby making the funnel a straighter drop to the case mouth. I believe this would also aid your bridging issues.
