Evan had this pic on his 20 VT build page and this is a 40 vmax touching the lands. He has a .0402 freebore. This is loaded out quite abit longer than your 32 vmax.

Why are so many about the zero freebore, what's a little bit of freebore hurt?

What does it help when its not needed?
My theory is like the long neck BR and PPC case more neck is better.

Thanks that helps alot comparing your 32 w .050 free fore to evans 40 gr w .0402. I can ballpark how deep that 32 would be seated with 0 freebore.

i measured the bearing surface of a 40 vmax and .050 difference between 0 freebore and 0.050 freebore is so small I can’t imagine it making much if any difference.

I’m now leaning towards a happy medium like 0.035 to 0.040 freebore.

Just for reference, my seating depth has moved out 0.005 in about 1500 rnds now. Turns out 17gns of powder doesn't tend to errode the lands! Haha.

Yeah, I measured my 6BRA at 400 rounds the lands moved out .004” and at 800 it had moved out another .006” ( I believe will have to double check the 800 rnd number). Point being it seems like it would take 1000’s of rounds in the VT for the throat to erode enough in the VT for the freebore to matter as long as you start out in the 0.000 to 0.050 range.
