20 Vartarg / 223 small base die sizing question

I've got a 20 vartarg custom build in process (early, started everything 2 weeks ago!). My smith has a reamer, but it's the Kindler original with a 0.374 spec base and 0.232 neck. I bought a box of Lapua brass and the Hornady FL sizer and seater set. Ran a couple pieces through the dies and all looks good. Seated a 40vmax as a dummy round and measured. 0.200 up from the base on both pieces (and the unsized 221 brass too) is all 0.373 and the neck with bullet seated is 0.231. Clearly I'll need to turn the necks if I use this reamer but I'm very concerned about the base measurement.

Is 0.001" total (1/2 thou per side) enough clearance at 0.200 from the base?

Since the dies aren't sizing the base on new brass, I assume that these dies will not work with the reamer (perhaps they are set to size to 0.375 for a 0.377 SAAMI spec 221 base?). Could I buy 223 Small Base dies and use them to squeeze down the base when the bolt starts to click? Does anyone know what small base dies could be used to size to 0.372?

I would call Redding and ask them the spec of their small base dies.
I would think the small base 223 die would work for you very well for this case.I wish I had one to measure, maybe one of the guys on Saubiers has a die they could measure for you.It would be nice to know for sure before you buy one.
Matt
