.20 Tactical Loads

I'm in the process of having a Ruger #1B converted to a .20 Tactical. I plan on using Lapua brass and either 40 gr V-max or 39 gr. Blitzking bullets. Does anyone have any loads they wish to share using those two components plus Reloader 10X and Wolf or CCI 450 magnum primers?

24.6 of 10x, with Rem 7 1/2, and Sierra 39BK, at aprox 3,840fps. Most accurate rifle I've owned to date with 1/4" 5 shot groups.

Edit; BTW, that is with a 27" PacNor 1-11

I have three 20 Tac Rifles and I have found that 25.4 to 25.8 Grs. of Benchmark shoots very small groups using the 40Gr. V-Max. Quarter inch range. 8208 may be a little better(if you have some) with about a full grain more. When the 20 Tac first came out, 10X was considered "the" powder and it is certainly a very good choice. It seemed to be very dirty in my barrels and it is temperature sensitive....

You can also try H322 if you have any, in my case (AR15) it shoots very well with 32gr bullets!

Thanks guys for sharing....it gives me a good place to start. I have the 10X and will be trying to find some Benchmark and bum some H322 from my buddy.

Tac20 Dakota brass, all case necks turned to .009", 40LTB Berger, 25.8gr/Benchmark, CCI450, 2.170"OAL. Velocity is 3944fps. This is shot out of a Nesika "T" action rifle with PacNor 26", #4contour fluted w/6 flutes., SSSM bbl 1:12" twist. This is my favorite load for all around use. This is my favorite coyote rifle. Sighted dead on @ 250yds the midrange height above line of sight is only 1.5", and only 2.5" low @ 300yds. I only have to hold on fur at any range I shoot coyotes at. If I had it to do all over again I would probably choose a 1:11" twist rate, and use the #3bbl contour without fluting. The #3bbl without flutes and the #4 bbl with 6 flutes weigh the same. Supposed to give the stiffness of the #4 but the weight of the #3. Carl L.

Simply look at Hodgdon data......best place to start.........

20 tact data here..........

What ever powder you select, use a CCI 450 or a Rem 7.5.
The tactical w/most powders is a high pressure load.
I got the experience of depriming 498 cases after I popped my first
2 primers using standard primers @.5 under max of H4198.
Experience is a wonderful teacher. LDS
