Some of you may have seen my issues getting this thing to cylce...thanks to the group here, i now have it running smooth...It is an AR-15 in .20 Practical. Now that i have it functioning (after two years, it took a backseat to other projects) I am now needing to load for this guy. My initial loads were a scaled back of a pet load for a.223 i have, using 748, and it shot about .75 with a vmax. just on initial guesses, while struggling with the cycling...I cannot find any real load data on this round. Is anyone willing to share their success loads with powder and bullets? Now that it cycles i want to make it run like a champ for next trip to montana for gophers!

You can go to the Hodgdon Reloading website and use the 20 Tactical load data. Water Capacity is essentially identical to your 20P.

If you're not concerned with powder cost, try VV N133. With any weight bullet start at 23.0 in .2 increments. Same with bullets, I built two 20Ps and have one in an AR, BIB 40s are the most accurate, 10 or 11 twist barrels. Factory bullets, the 40 Bergers and 39 SBKs. Primers, BR4s or 205Ms. The powder column is short and skinny. Magnum primers are not necessary.

If you have an 11 or 10 twist, try the Berger 40s. You should be able to cut that group by 2/3.

your post states h4198, you target has IMR4198. Also, what muzzle velocities are you getting?

20-practical, I changed the powder to read correctly. I didn't have my chrono with me that day as I was doing some pistol shooting the week before and I shot it.

There seems to be a lot of good powder combo's for the 20 Prac. for sure. I use RL-10X in mine with
very good accuracy I'm using 22.5 with one and 24.0 with the other all 40 grain v-max and 11 twist.
One is 6625 fps. and the other 3850 fps. if I remember correctly.

26 grn n133 with 26 grn barnes varmint grenade. Absolutly explosive results on pdogs out to 200 yards
Man, that's smokin'! I never had any luck with Barnes bullets.
