20 caliber cleaning rod? Advice please

Wondering what you 20 cal guys use? What is your "go to" rod for 20 caliber, and what jag/patch combo do you use?

I will be using wipe-out, and when it gets ugly, Butches Bore Shine, and occasional brass brush.

Give me your best advice on equipment...I am settled on my cleaning style. My first 20 caliber barrel is "in production" as we speak.

Thanks in advance,

Snert

I like to use a.17 caliber cleaning rod with 6mm patches most of the time. I also have a Boretech 20 caliber rod that I use also. Those triangle patches work great!

I went ahead and ordered a 20 cal rod from Brownells. Not exactly what I wanted, but IN STOCK, and that Trumps everything in a Biden world!

Thanks guys

Tipton carbon fiber, steel rods or coated steel rods do not go down my barrels, ever. The coatings wear off. It took a little adjustment but love the movable handle. I currently clean nineteen 20cal's. A lot of time behind the rod

I like an oversized patch on the 17 jag.
I got tired of buying patches. The thickness and the size were varying enough, some were to tight others to loose.
I got a rolling Fiskars cutter and cut my own.
Watch the thread count on the flannel. Take a measuring “wrench” with ya before you buy. Also the finished edge will be thicker.

I had some flannel that got cut crooked, I cut it into triangles. They worked ok, but I won’t go out of my way to make them.

You can cut a pile of patches in no time at all

Boretech and proof positive jags. Bought a Tipton carbon and the handle on mine was NOT free spinning. Midway took it back and even covered shipping both ways.

I have a Boretech proof positive coming from Brownells. It was a matter of available and jags/brushes too....I am usually a dewey guy.

I'll let you know when I get it and start to use it.

Thanks guys!

Get a Carbon Fiber Rod, & Spear point .20cal jag the Proof Positive type, Rods Stay Straight,no Metal touches barrel,no coatings coming off

My choice is stainless uncoated Pro Shot rods, but as I am not a 20 cal. guy, I do not know if they make one. I have one from them in .17 and other calibers.

Just make sure the rod is long enough, remembering you will need a bore guide. I have a custom made stainless for my .22 centerfires, wish I would have had a 20 made.
I was just hanging around my gunsmith shop, when another rifle with a stuck bore snake came in. Don't be that guy.
