20 cal coyote bullet

40gr Bergers have been my go to in my 20 Vartarg for Coyotes. Killed a bunch in the last 7 years. Tried 39gr Sierras but had splashes 75 yards and in. Tried 40gr Noslers on a few dogs and they did well. The base of the Nosler is thicker than the Vmax or the Sierra.

I prefer the Bergers or the 40 V-max. I have used the 32 V-max and are good for well-placed shots - but don't penetrate enough to get the job done as much. If you want frangible - go with Nosler Lead Free Ballistic tips or Barnes Varmint Grenades., though they are much better suited to smaller critters because they are so wonderfully frangible. I find them 'too frangible' for coyotes - if there is such a thing. But then - I don't keep pelts.

I’ve killed 2 dogs with 40gr vmax, 1 with the 32 and dozen or so with the 39blitxkings. The 40gr worked fine but left massive hole on both. The 32 had a splash and required a second but due to a poor placement. Never get it a real chance. The 39’s have proven to be fantastic as long as you aren’t worried about fur. I switched this season to the 35’s but havent had the opportunity to test them yet
