20 Cal .223 AI

Has anyone made a 20 cal .223 AI, for 40 grain bullets ,looking for 3750 + fps w/ 40 grain bullets,have .204 rugers, inherited a Rem 700 BDL Varmint in .223w/ laminated stock.Thinking of something New.addicted to .20 cal & 40 grainers

Im getting darned near 3600 from a VT and a 40 grainer...maybe my load is hot...

You should be fine

In my 20 practical im getting 3718 fps from a 22 inch barrel and 40gr vmax. Im not leaning on it too bad and maybe another powder might be faster or longer barrel.

In my 20 Practical, I get ~3870 fps from a 26" 3R 11T barrel with 39gr Blitzkings. ~25gr of H4895 and BR4s. Velocities were measured with both a Magnetospeed and a Labradar. Very fast and very accurate.

Get a TAC20 and call it done. As well as being inherently accurate, mine with a 26” Lilja, 25.3 gr R10X & a 40 Vmax Is 3920 fps. Have another 32 gr Vmax runs 4130 fps just this week with Garmin Xero.

Pretty stiff load for 20P, 204 Ruger has a time getting there with a 40 with a 28” tube.

Not particularly. When developed Todd K told me it was with R10, now R10x in mind.
Slightly flattened primers but no hard bolt lift or extraction issues, never lost a single case

Just done a 20tac, which is about the same as 20-223AI 3,750 is no problem at all with 39gr blitzkings, there's a sweet spot at 3,850

Todd was known to run some hot loads. It’s a wildcat so one can do as they please. Bolt lift and primers and case web measurements many still go by. With lab equipment that has been shown and proven to not be of much use, more times than not way over what most of us suspect.
I saw some work on the 280AI. Early hand loads compared to what it is today, pretty much casterated it.
I have tended to run some known soft primers in wildcats just to get a some what early sign.
