20 badger new project

One of my favorite little cartridges is the 20 Ackley hornet, 14grs of 1680 give 3425fps with a 32gr VMAX, my killer bee's do just a little more speed, but with 16.9grs. If I could find more winchester hornet brass, I might be tempted to make another 20ah. I almost went the route of 357mag down to 20cal. But instead I used starline dw360 brass down to what could be called a rimmed vartarg. It does hold about 1gr. More of powder the a regular vartarg. Works well in my martini's

In my experience making 22 Spitfire from Carbine brass, it helps a lot to lightly re-anneal the neck before forming, even with new brass. Otherwise I get what I will call crepe paper looking necks. Going on down to 20 would probably make this step even more helpful in making quality brass. I have had all of my CZ and custom action Hornets converted to 22 Spitfire; no more crappy brass problems and easy 3400 +/- fps using 40gr bullets with great accuracy. One other thing, at least in the 22 version I have, is the best powder is Shooters World SBR-SOCOM if you can find some. AA1680 may be better for the 20 cal though.
