20 badger new project

mule

I have a new little project I was looking at doing is a 20 badger just wondering if any of you guys have any insight or any info on it

I just noodled around and a quick check revealed Starline around 500/$150. So not too bad.
How about .357 Mag brass for a 20 cal Wooly Mag? ;) Shorter but fatter. Kinda like age appropriate for me galz. :)

The Badger is James Cahoons cartridge on a 30 carbine parent case, it would be easy to neck up his 19 cal brass, im not sure what the dimensions are on the 20-30 carbine.
I've made alot of my own brass from 30 carbine and have bought James and necked it down, ive gotta nk turn my 17 stuff.
When I had my reamer made i just used his 19 badger print and just necked it down. Bought a FL 19 Badger from him and had it converted to a Bushing die and made a seater from a Newlon blank

Yes the brass is plentiful everywhere but I'm going to just pick up the 19 badger brass for Mr Calhoun and naked up from there

I am GLAD I don’t have a spare Hornet action. All I need is another project, lol.
That is exactly my problem I found a very good deal on a second CZ hornet action and off to the races

I made a bunch of 256 magnum for a fellow years ago. I will say it was not as bad as I thought, but I won’t volunteer again.
Had some 357DW and 357Max brass. Necked it down for a buddy that did a rechamber on a TC barrel. Brass was virgin, but still lost a lot to neck splits. His “wildcat” was little more than a 221 rimmed, he messed up and ran the reamer deeper than intended.

I am afraid to start tinkering with the 30 Carbine or 327 case, don’t need another project for a while, lol.

I also want to do a 20 Badger. My concern is necking the 30 Carbine down to 20 without ruining necks.

What do you mean ruining necks, do you mean make it from straight wall 30 carbine?
The only cases I have lost making my own 17 Badger brass is because I do something wrong not because of the brass.
The key is anneal before you run it through the FL die in your last step.

I've not attempted to neck any 30 Carbine brass down but from what I read and heard, the brass was prone to neck splitting when being necked down.

Where did you get your dies? I would really like to build some brass up.
I've got 3- double ended forming dies from Bullberry i got probably close to 20 years ago.
If you get them have them put the angle you want to match the brass so it builds the shoulder the right angle.
