20 ARC

What would this have over the 20 ppc. What are you going to consider to be the parent cartridge, 22 or 6mm ARC? in either case, over bore from my perspective, though I expect she would have her place. If it is not out there yet I expect someone will be doing both parent cartridges necked down.

I was considering using 22 arc brass for ease of sizing

The 20 Titan is the 20 ARC. It was developed by Todd Kindler. See his "Terric Twenty's" book.

I have two bolt guns and an AR in the cartridge. Very Accurate and deadly on coyotes, prairie dogs and Japanese Beetles!

I may build another one using a 6.5 Grendel Howa Mini barreled action and pulling the barrel.

How much gain over a 204?
For another 20, I would think it could sell on the ARC side. Maybe Hornady will ready this and build some heavy 20’s.
The PPC case is not all that much bigger than a 222mag, so I see little in over bore. If it is I am way out in left field with my 20BR.

is necking down 6BR to 20 BR difficult? Any issues?
I did mine in a few steps.
6BR FL die no expander ball
22BR FL no expander
Then a proper bushing in a FL bushing die, actually went smaller
I then ran over a mandrel, as I ended up neck turning, though it was supposed to be a no turn, better to small than to big.
I only run 55’s as those under can get up to speed easy enough.
A bit more work than the 22BR was, both were a pleasure to work with.

I would think with the 22ARC die and remove the expander would get you at least half way to a 20.

For a new 20 with pretty decent case capacity, able to run on a small bolt face, and have an OAL that'll work well in AR15 mags Nosler's plan to do a true 20 Nosler, not just a necked down 22 Nosler, could have been a pretty fun little setup but for whatever reason/s they never followed through with it.

Necking down the 22 Nosler to .204 would be pretty simple and easy and a 20-22 Nosler running on a small frame AR build or small bolt face bolt gun would probably be a fun one but I've heard the brass is kind of meh mediocre and loosens up in the primer pockets fairly early but then again a lot of this stuff gets run wayyyy past SAAMI pressure simply because the brass is durable and will take the repeated abuse.

A case that sends 39-40 grain bullets at 3900 FPS and operates at safe pressures would be the berries. I’ve done that speed and higher in a .204 Ruger but it aint happening at sane PSI levels. A 20 ARC or similar cartridge is a very appealing combo.

You can simply neck down the 220 Russian to 20 caliber....called 20 Beggs.
I have had one for several years probably one of my favorite rifles.

Primal rights has YouTube videos on .20 BRA. Basically the same thing. Seems pretty cool if you run the 55 Berger. Seems easier since ots a common bolt face. Hope Hornady does 20 arc and some new heavies. That would be cool.

The one draw back on the arc is the bolt head size. Same as the ppc. Just not many rifles to choose from with that bolt face. I just use the 20 practicle and 20vartarg. They satisfy my meager needs.

The 20 PPC in my opinion is closer to the arc case than a 20BRA
22 ARC has 34.gr of H20
22 PPC has 35.0 of H2O
6BR has about 39.0 H2O
Big difference in neck lengths between these, with corresponding difference in USABLE (uncompressed to neck shoulder junction) capacity. My 6BR load is 100% usable at 34.5gr. 22ARC has a longer body but a shorter neck than PPC, so usable capacity difference is actually very small.

Something is wrong here. A 22 ARC is a 22 Grendel (6.5 necked down to 22 cal). A 6 ARC is .030 shorter than the Grendel and .040 longer than a 22 PPC(full length version). So, a 22 ARC is a .070 long 22 PPC, to the shoulder datum. Been fooling with Grendel wildcats and PPC's for many years now and I've never seen a PPC hold more than a Grendel yet. Lol! They're very similar but oal is basically the same(ish), which negates the difference being in the longer ppc neck.

Just finished up a 22 ARC bbl for a bench gun yesterday. Used the same Grendel hs gauge that I do for my 6mm and 30 cal versions of it.

Don't have any to measure myself

Just checked a couple. A 6PPC vs a 6 Grendel.
6ppc=33.8 h2o
6Grendel=35.5 h2o
Not gonna wet one of the few 22 ARC cases I have fired and ready for this at this time. Hope to shoot them shortly. All Lapua brass fwiw 220r necked and fired several times to 6 vs 6.5G necked to 6 fired several times. Just old brass I had. I've done this before and these numbers are consistent with those.
