What is the average loaded neck diameter for this round? I need to get a couple bushings and haven’t got any loaded yet bushing die in the mail. But I need to get bushings on the way also. Thanks

I use a 0.226 bushing for a 0.228 neck on a loaded round with Lake City brass.
Its primarily what I use but to cover all the bases other than Lapua the 3 I mentioned will do it, another reason to have those 3 is just because its stamped that doesn't mean it is.

Doesn't work that way. You need to know the neck dimensions of your chamber and build the round to fit. Most make the neck size with .001-.002 clearance on each side. AFAIK there is no SAMMI spec for a 20-223AI.

O.k if you wanna get technical then a 232-233 nk chamber will cover all brass for no turn except Lapua.
All my 20VT's and 20 Prac's are .232 and .233.
Lapua you better go atleast .235
Theres only 1 saami 20 cal and that's a 204 Ruger which i believe has a .231 nk chamber, unless you wanna call the non- existence of the 20 Nosler one.

I didn't see the OP ask anything other than average neck size. I have a 20-223AL with a .228 nk. If he specified a no turn neck, I missed it.BTW- precision reloading is all about being "technical".

Really, isn't that what a couple of us have already said that .228 is kinda the norm other than Lapua, and last time I looked he was asking about loaded round dia.
Why would neck dia be any different on a 20-223AI than a 20 Prac with the exact same brass?

Several unknown assumptions in the decalration. Assuming gets one in trouble quick.
Rick
Who's assuming what? Your here to pick a fight. A loaded round with the exact same brass wether its a 20-223AI, 20 Prac or 20 Tac is gonna be the same, end of story.

No interest in a fight, just wish to help, rather than confuse the OP. I can see what you had a problem with Hermanator.

LMAO you wanna buy a PTG 20 Prac reamer? 50.00 shipped! Im loosing 100.00 on the deal.
Last question did the O.P get his question answered?

You don't present yourself as someone I'd choose to do business with. No idea if the OP got the information he needed. You'll have to ask him. Maybe he did.

Tell you what I'll do i send it to you for free as long as you don't give or sell it to someone else.

Here ill post this again Greyfox maybe read it twice then tell us if his question got answered long before you piped in.
If I'm wrong or give any bad advice to the O.P question I will apologize to the O.P. you just show me were it was in any post.

If you dont run Lapua buy a .225, .226 and .227 that will cover everything but Lapua.
Loaded will be around .228 give or take .001 except Lapua
Loading for my buddies rifle. He has starline brass, so a .225,.226 bushings should give me a safe starting point? I can turn the necks if needed. Just needed a baseline, his house burnt to the ground d right after he bought this encore barrel. The brass he got with it I was going to measure was lost. So I lost my baseline, and starting to pick up dies and what not. Just don’t want to have to buy a bunch of bushings that are wrong and be stuck with them. I plan to load at the so called sammi diameter and turn them down to fit if needed.

Also what seating die would I need to seat 20 cal bullets?

I select a bushing that's 0.001 to 0.002 under the loaded round diameter. That give me the neck tension I prefer. I don't use the bushing to fit a round to the chamber.

I'll throw some fuel on this fire, I have used Rem,Win,LC brass for my 20p. When I use a 0.225 bushing the bullet can/will more inward when loading off the magazine in my AR. Instead of dropping another bushing size or two(I would have to buy more bushings) I had Lee make me a tapered crimp die. A light crimp no more slippage. All the brass I have used measures 0.228- 0.2285 + - 0.001 with a seated bullet before a crimp.
