20-223 Barrel for AR 15

Can anyone recommend a gunsmith/barrel maker that can supply me with a AR15 Barrel, Short Chambered,in 20-223,practical).
Thanks
MLC

I am not aware of any AR-15 gunsmiths that have a 20 Practical reamer. One guy at our range had a famous AR-15 gunsmith do a "20-223" for him recently and the throat was way too long on his chamber.

If you want the short throat of the 20 Practical make sure the gunsmith has a short throat reamer. Or better yet, order a 20 Practical reamer from PTG and send it to the gunsmith and ask him to use it. Reamers are a good investment as you can always get most of your money back out of them after using them. Or just hang on to the reamer for your next barrel. Sometimes the gunsmith will go in half with you on the reamer purchase, and sometimes they will just buy the reamer with the intention of using it over and over again on other customers' rifles. Kevin Weaver did this for me and has chambered many rifles with the 20 Practical reamer he bought. But I do not think he works on AR-15s.

If you do find someone who will do this for you let us know as others have wanted this chambering in their AR-15s. It is so nice to be able to seat a 32 gr bullet to touch the lands and have plenty of bullet in the case and have the cartridge still fit into the magazine.

Thank's Fireball!
Lot of 204 barrels out there, but the practical is much more cost effective for high rate PD shooting.Called Tromix but have not heard anything yet! Will let everyone know how the search goes.

MLC: I'd also be interested in hearing who you come up with to do your work. I've got a barrel-less AR-15 upper I'd like to put a .17 Mach IV/Fireball barrel on, but not sure who to go to for the work. Anyone with suggestions?

MLC, also keep in mind that with all those 204 Ruger barrels out there that everyone of them will have a very long throat. Unless of course one of those guys spec'd out a zero lead throat for their 204 Ruger reamer. I know Tromix does the 20 Tactical. I am not sure about the throat on his 20 Tactical reamer though.

You might also try Mike at this website. He makes some real nice uppers for a decent price and does the .20 Tac and the 204 Ruger so he might be able to hook you up.
