TAC 20 CASE GAGE

I have a new Cooper 21 Phoenix in Tac 20.
Can anyone give me any info on finding a case gage, or how to set up my Redding FL Dies? This is my first trip into wildcat country!!!

give wilson a call, sinclair dont list them but I am sure wilson would make them, I wouldnt mind getting one myself, just got my tac20 which just so happens to be a cooper phoenix, though it started out as a .204 ruger, I just had a pac-nor put on.

Just the humble opinion of a fellow wildcatter - but if you have the rifle, you already have the best gauge available to you, i.e. the chamber. Strip the bolt so you get a very sensitive "feel" and set your dies so that the bolt will close with just a slight crush fit if you're fireforming. After that, set your dies so that you just barely feel the case when you close the bolt.

Thanks for the reply guys!
CRAIGBOY, Wilson has to have a min 50 pieces on special orders.

RAY, That's how I have been doing it, just not sure how close I
am. Have not stripped the bolt, not sure on how to get the spring out, hate to chase down flying parts!!!
Thanks again

Hey fellas,
If your changing .223 brass to Tac 20. There are several ways.
-First and Easiest: Get a Redding Tac 20 Form Die; With very little imperal sizing lube, You can make Tac 20 out of the .223 brass very easy, one shot and your ready to go. After that You can send your brass to Lee and get a set of Collet Dies off the brass u made. OR even cheaper,Just buy the .204 Ruger Collet die Set.
-Second, you could buy Redding FL dies and change .223 brass to Tac 20 that way and then I would get a set of Lee Collet .204 Ruger dies.

I'm a firm believer in the Lee Collet dies, they just resize the neck like 1/1000th of an inch,.203) Makes the .204 bullets fit snug with just about the same neck tension all the way around.
