That is recipe for how folks can load the 20 Practical. If you want something with a bit more spice, you could go with the 20 Bobcat. Weaver Rifles keeps dies on hand for those.

Send it my way too if you don’t mind. I currently have one being built, haven’t really thought about dies. I have a 222 S die, so the 204 Ruger seating stem makes that easy but I’d still like to hear what you recommend.

Talk to snert. He fixed me up, and it was cheap and easy - just like snert.

If you already own a .222 bushing die set, you only need the decapping rod as mentioned above, and bushings, which you’ll need to shrink the necks anyway. The only difference between the .222 and 20-222 is the neck diameter.

I use Redding 222 bushing dies with the decapping rod it comes with but with the sizing button removed for my 20-222.

If you're using bushing dies then pulling the neck back through a sizing button it defeats the purpose of using a bushing die.

Just had a 20-222 built. I had a Redding S die on hand and did as advised above. I also ordered the 21st century universal neck die for this rifle and some others where I’m reducing necks a caliber or two. The 21st century bushing design accommodates necking down a full caliber a little better in my option but they both work great though. I reduced the necks .002 more than I wanted and then set final neck tension with a mandrel, also from 21st century. Worked great. I’ve been using mandrels more and more to set neck tension, I think it’s easier on the brass.

l frequent Jarret Rifles. lf you have them build a wildcat caliber rifle they can make a set of dies using the same reamer the barrel was chambered with.
