I know this is not a traditional listing on this site, but I was part of a thread that was talking about hunting in Texas, and few people on that thread were from out of state, and I think I may have a good fit for an out of state hunter. I need 1 permanent hunter and 1 temporary hunter. Let me explain.
I have 640 acres (on private land) that I lease the hunting rights on. I have leased this property for 8 years, and this next season will be our 9th year. 2 of the hunters (Father/Son combo) are not returning due to finances, and my father is taking an elk hunt this year so will be taking a break from this lease for a single year (this is where the temporary spot comes into play)
The permanent hunter will be asked to pick his hunting area, and put his own stand, feeder or feeders (following all the rules of the lease) and then start enjoying the benefits of having a section of land that he can bring his friends and family to enjoy with him.
The temporary hunter will enjoy all the same benefits that the permanent hunter will, except he/she will have a stand and a feeder and a feeder pen provided for him. This makes it the ideal situation for an out of town (or out of state) hunter. I can even fill the feeders for him during the year when I go and fill mine up. The temporary hunter needs to know and understand that this arrangement is only for this year. There is very little chance that hunter will get an invite for the next year since my dad intends to return to the lease after this hunting year is over. In the event a permanent hunter does not return, then that chance greatly increases.
Now here is a little bit about the land. It is 640 acres of mesquite pasture outside of Talpa Texas. We have 2 seasonal creeks. This 640 acres is part of a 6000+ acre ranch. The ranch is 7 miles off the paved road. So once you are on our property you will hardly even see another person. Occasionally one of our neighbors will drive the fence line. Camp is a few travel trailers set up in a semi circle. We have electricity, but no running water. I have a 250 gallon water tank filled for cleaning up, but not for drinking. The property has 2 ponds on it, with 1 of those being the only pond that held water this past year with the drought. We got TONS of rain in late September and early November, so the ponds are back to full again on the whole ranch. We have plenty of Dove, quail, and deer. The turkeys have seemed to be very scarce the last few years. We have no hogs and plenty of coyotes (might be why the turkeys are thin). The bucks are not HUGE, but we have some respectable ucks for that area. We have been on a management program for all 8 years we have been there, and you can see the herd getting better.
Cost is $1500 per hunter per year, and includes electricity. You can read the rules for the lease at www.P1HuntClub.com on the rules page. For any questions or more details, email me through my web site or via this site. Tell me a little about yourself and what you are looking for.
Here are a few bucks that I got on my game came during deer season.
