I worked as a gunsmith in Sandstone MN and the store burnt down. We'd just filled the ocy/acet bottles and they were back in my work area. I was out of town at a gunshow but the people who watched it said that just as the powder jugs and ammo in the showroom started whooshing and popping a "clear column of flame" erupted in the back and SUCKED the flames toward the back of the store so the fire dept had time to work out front. A lot of the ammo did not cook off. The reconstructionist guys figured the acet probably vented first but however it worked, one melted the other tbecause they went up together, melted a round hole up thru the metal roof......I would never try to prove or disprove it for obvious reasons, but I'm surprised a propane bottle would explode under such circumstances. In my youth, I did witness a 1,000 gallon propane tank engulfed in flames vent. Created quite the flame geyser. It was part of a tire shop owned by my stepfather. Total loss. Saw lots of . . . . odd sights that afternoon. The venting propane tank sight I've never forgotten.
