2 extractors in rem 223

We have had 2 new style no rivet extractors in my 223 and the rounds still chamber hard. I have read that is a common problem. I have another one ordered from Larry Potterfield. I wonder if it will work, what should I do if it doesn't work? Rem says it's out of warranty although it is still low round count.

:(

thanks

Dusty My smith spent a hour or so on it the other day. Replaced the extractor with a new one and it still chambers hard . I ordered a new one hoping it would be a little different and work better.
Someone must have the answer.

Yes it was the extractor. I took it out and took .006 off the lip. now it works really, really smooth. I bent it up taking it out and rebent it putting it in. I can see why you shouldn't reuse them. We will see how long it lasts.

thanks guys Link

talk to gre tan. rem had a problem with the extractor grove not being cut deep enough. I think it was around $35 to have the grove cut deeper.

You came up with the solution. The problem is common with the small bolt faces. Not only do they have extraction problems but every time you chamber a round, some will whack a piece out of the rim. Pretty soon your cases are useless. There will be brass shavings on the bolt face. The fact that Rem. knows about the problem and ignores you speaks volumes about there view of customer satisfaction.

Additionally, the cost of the item is ridiculous. If I remember correctly, it's about $12.00 for a 20 cent item. Some people replace them and they seem to work fine. Others find that the replacements need the engaging surface radiused. I keep two that are radiused in the gun's case.
