195 Bergers

seems they have been out long enough to get some reports on how they are doing,,are they living up to the long wait and all the hype as the slickest bullet on the planet??

are they proving at the range and in field to be better than the 180s in a 284 or 280AI sized round or do you really need a 28 Nosler or 7 Allen Mag for the 195 to show off and really beat the 180s ??

From what Ive heard, guys have said theyre not worth it in the 284 win/shehane cause by the time you get them fast enough to be worthwhile the primer pockets blow out due to pressure. However Ive built over thirty 28 noslers so far this year alone and they have been built specifically for the 195 berger going 3100+ fps. Customers have sent me numerous groups in the .0s, .1s and .2s moa wise with the ones Ive built them. My opinion is only use them in bigger magnums. Last week alone I got 2 groups from different customers that had .5-.6 inch groups at 400 and 480 yds. These were sub 10lb rifles with scopes.

Positive results. Looks like you have this one figured out Ryan!

Tony.

Those pics show impressive vertical for the bullets that actually hit the plate.
But, how is anyone to know how many rounds it took to get those hits?

Al knows his stuff .I wouldn't be putting sour grapes on anything until you seen him shoot.

No 'sour grapes', and I wasn't questioning the shooter's credentials?
Was simply making commentary that the pic alone isn't telling much, if anything.

All those two pics show is 3 hits @ 720 and 2 hits @ 1,000. Beyond that, there's NO frame of reference to quantify or qualify anything more from them, than that.

Exactly the reason I prefer not to post much........

The 720 group was the first 3 shots out of a dirty/cold bore w/ zero wind.

I even took a pic of the first shot....far right steel:

My 6x47 was doing OK too.....

From the 1K mark....wind had picked up:

I dialed in the up, with a couple MOA of wind, & sent one sighter in the dirt. That went a hair high right over the spot, so I clicked down two and moved to the steel and banged off three. The first two damn near touched, with the last one a bit right....

Now that additional info rounds out a post to learn & deduce something from!
Thanks for taking the extra time...

Very nice groups and range Alf. The 195s are definitely extremely accurate. How fast are you pushing them in your 7-300? My test load for the 28 nosler pushes them 3100-3145fps in a 26" barrel depending on the barrel. Shot 3 groups yesterday at 100 testing different barreled actions before they get cerakoted. .236, .246 and .256" at 100. I don't want to do 5 shot groups as the barrels were very hot to the touch after only 3 shots and that was in Remington varmint contours.

Didn't hit the refresh button before I posted that last response so your tw and velocity didn't show up. How many grains of reloader 33?
