Awesome project. We have a paper cutter that's been in the family since the 1870's. The condition isn't great but definitely shootable. Some day I hope to shoot it.

That's an awesome rifle but it's nowhere near a "Big 50"

In fact, that's the LITTLE 50....... next is 50-90, then 50-120 and then the Big Fifty which is 50-140.......literally twice as large (70gr BP to 140gr BP)

I own a very similar rifle, completely smooth bore but it easily accepts the 50-140 rounds and a variety of old shottygun shells. I have no idea whether it's normal, shot out or modified, I just think it's cool

I realized an error in the article.

I called out Loctite 270 and you should use Loctite 620. I corrected it.
