17 MACH IV

Here's some data from www.accuratereloading.com . Looks like H4198 is a good choice:

Using 18.0 gr AA2015BR with the 25 gr Hornady HP,moly), Rem 7-1/2 primer, Rem .221 brass in my MGM 24" barreled Contender. Haven't chronoed it yet, but it shoots in the .3's. The AA Manual shows 18.5 gr as max., but that is more than my Contender will handle w/o becoming hard to open. Vic

My rifle was a custom turn neck on a shilen barrel. It would shoot the following loads:

Rem brass
7 1/2
16.0-19.0g of H-335, and H-322

You will absolutely hit a home run with one of these powders if not both of them. I had one barrel that would go from 15.5g of H335 to 19g and never goe over 1/2" groups.

NEVER, NEVER use fed 205 or win primers in your M4. Always use 7 1/2, cci br-4, or cci 450 primers due to their thicker cups.

I had one barrel that shot 19.5g of H335 at 4050 fps.

One thing, the Hornady HP bullets made my barrels copper fouling pigs. I switched to the 25g Berger bullets and there was a world of diffence in copper fouling tendancies.

Also, I waxed my bullets and was able to go 150 rounds inbetween cleanings on dog towns. If you are interested in waxing bullets, contact Todd Kindler at Small Caliber news. There are big dividends to waxing bullets and no draw backs like there is with moly.

I have an Excell file of Mach IV loads that was compiled by a guy on Saubier.com Send me an email and I will send it to you.
