Who makes a replacement barrel for a 17 Hornet? Replacing a 22 Hornet barrel on a Cooper Model 38. Barrel is junk.

Purchase a 17 caliber barrel from any of the many different barrel manufactures that make a 17 cal barrel then take the barrel to a gunsmith that either has a 17 Hornady Hornet reamer or they can get one and they'll fit and chamber the barrel to your action and you're done.

Or, and this would probably be the easiest for you if you don't already have a gunsmith you work with call Pac-Nor Barreling and talk to them about rebarreling your rifle to 17 Hornady Hornet and it'll be one stop shopping.

While I'm sure Pac-Nor can and will provide you with the barrel you are looking for, I myself replaced my 17 Hornet stock Savage Model 25 barrel with one made by Lilja Barrels out of Plains, MT and I couldn't be happier with the results. Of course, all manner of small furry creatures might not be so happy about it...

Ditto on Pac Nor barrels and 17AH. I have a 9 twist, 3-groove with approximately 5,000 rounds through it, still very accurate.

How many rounds for the barrel to be junk?
I have a cooper 38 in 17AH, its such a mild round that it seems to me that it would take many thousands of rounds to wear one out.

Bought the rifle used at an estate sale. Barrel was full of rust, Have 3 other 17 Hornets , so Decided to re-barrel in 17 Hornet.

I am not aware of anyone making a replacement barrel for Cooper rifles. You would have to get a blank turned for a Cooper action, like for most rifles.

Lilja, the senior one, looked at my group with my CZ 527 Hornet and suggested I keep what I have, as he said in all honesty, he couldn't do any better than the factory barrel, an honest man.Five shots at 100, benched in a gun vise, no wind—Hornady 20 grain Superformance.
