17 Hornet disappeared ?

had spent a couple years regretting my choice of the Savage model 25 I owned in 17 Hornet. Talk about a shame. Savage had every opportunity to build the model 25 into a gem and instead created a plastic broom handle with a trigger. The only thing that gun had going for it was it's accuracy in spite of their lack luster attempt.

My 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet is everything the Savage could have been and then some.
Thanks for writing that. That Savage action is really fugly and I don't care if it will shoot well. Savage went really old school Savage fugly on that one with the action that has a slot for the bolt handle to pass through.

I was able to order a case of 10 boxes of Hornady 20gr .17 Hornet ammo from Bass Pro Shops to be picked up at my local store. They have it in stock.

I used AmmoSeek.com to find it. Give it a try.

My .17 Hornet is built on a Browning A-Bolt II Micro Medallion originally chambered for the .22 Hornet. I worked with a gunsmith to make a switch-barrel rig... with a vise I can re-install the original factory barrel or the Lilja 24" .17 HH. It is VERY accurate, and a lot of fun.

I had a Ruger #1 re-barreled to 17 HH a few years back. I still haven't got it tuned up as well as I would like, due to the shortage of cases from Hornady. I finally have some cases on the way. My suggestion would be find an adequate amount of components BEFORE getting a rifle in any caliber. I also had a 40X re-barreled to 222 Rem. but I got 100 Win and 200 Lapua cases before the re-barrel. Now if the weather would co-operate. The 17HH Ruger #1 is really great to shoot, no recoil or 'jump', and it shoots well to 250 yards, gophers don't stand a chance.

I had a Ruger 22 hornet Mod 77 with mag and rebareled to A 17 Hornet....damn I wish i still had that gun.....
