17 Hornet brass

I have found the factory loaded brass has 2 different head stamps. The ones with a "dot" on either side of the "HORNADY" that I have, are the ones with super tight primer pockets. I used my RCBS primer pocket uniformer cutter, which was difficult with them being so tight and then I used the standard inside neck chamfer tool to open them up to where I can get primers seated now, but still difficult.

The better ones (primer pockets anyway), have the HORNADY in a little large font without the "dot" on either side.

I tossed mine. Too much work . Bought new brass, and carried on

I really considered throwing them out also but they shoot well and about 120 fps faster (3686 w/12.0 of 1680) than the other cases. I know there was a noticeable weight difference in the 2 style of cases ,the "hard to prime" ones must be the heavy ones. I really did want to toss them, they were terrible to work with.
