What do you guys find Is the preferred bullet for the 17AH

I had good luck in a Cooper 38 with the 25gr VMax.

The 20 grain V-max works very well in my 13 inch 17 Squirrel barrel. Also had good accuracy when using them in a 17 Hornady Hornet I sold several years ago.

One of the best in the little 17 Hornet cases regardless of HH, Ack Imp, K Hornet or whichever was the one Hornady doesn't make anymore that being their 17 Cal 25gr HP Midway and Hornady did some kind of deal a few years ago where they made a run of them so I snatched up 1K but I don't know if they ever plan to do that again or not.

Not the Hornet but ive shot alot of the 20gr v- nitemares over the years for sage rats in my 17 Badgers

Prairie dogs or ground squirrels the 20vmax is great. Fur critters like fox, coyote, etc the 25gr berger match target was awesome. The Hornady 25gr hp was great too.

Depends on what your quarry is... I like all the V-Max bullets, particularly the 20 V-Max for ground squirrels/sage rats or the Hornady 15.5 NTX. For longer distance work or larger quarry (like coyotes), I like the 25 V-Max or 25 Berger. If I could only pick one bullet for all - I'd say the 25 V-Max. Heavy enough and accurate enough for everything one would want to shoot with the .17H and much less expensive than the Berger. If price is of no concern - I'd shoot the Berger exclusively if I could only have one.

The best I've used was the 25 gr Berger, but its unobtainium. Lately, I've used 25 gr V-Max with good results.

I have a cz527 17 HH and the most accurate bullet is the 15.5 NTX. It was that way for factory ammo and my reloads. The next most accurate is the Berger 25’s

20 grain VMAX for the most part but mine will shoot the 25 grain Hornady about as well.

I shoot the 20gr. V-Max. They work well on gophers or sage rats. The longest measured shots I've made is 255 yds. It took 3 shots to get the little bugger, but only 1 to get the first responder. I haven't used the rifle for anything larger than the gophers. I just feel it is too small for prairie dogs or rock chucks and my ability.

I believe the .17 from Berger will no longer be made. I only say that because they no longer offer the .17 cal jackets regardless of how much you are willing to buy. I offered to buy a pallet.

We are working with some companies to make them. For the time being we are using the J4 .20 cal jackets and drawing them down. J4 jackets are so good that it is really hard to justify even trying someone else. Working on other calibers too.
