140 Gr VLD or Hybrid?

I've been shooting the Berger VLD's in my 260 Remington and have been satisfied with them. It took a little work to find the right seating depth, but they shoot well. I'm about out of them and was wondering about trying the hybrids. Anyone shooting them? How are they working?

I was shooting the VLD and had a hard time flinging more, so I tried the hybrid and glad I did. Just shot a 600 BR. Match last weekend and shot a 2.778" group with 2 hits on the X. At a 100 yards I saw a difference in load development, I had to drop my powder charge a few tenths to hit my desired node. I also feel that the hybrids buck the wind a little better.

I shoot a 243AI. Starting loading the VLD's before hydrids came available. Switched over to the hunting vlds when both the regular vld and hybrids went nonexistent. I load of three at same OAL and have no issues banging steel out to 1150 yards with one versus other of mixing all three together. Lucky? not sure. Have a buddy shoots 260 AI, we couldn't get the 140 hybrids to shoot whether jumping or jamming. Gave up and turned to Lapua 139 scenars jammed 0.060 and never turned back. Consistent tack driver out to 1400 yards. Scott

I shoot them both. If I had to say which is more accurate in my rifles, maybe the Hybrids are a shave better. The Hybrids take a little less "up" to 600, but not enough to make any real difference to me.

FWIW: 6.5 Creedmoor's, 43 grains H4350, Wolf LRM, Hornady brass. I jam the VLD's .015" and jump the Hybrids .035". I use AICS magazines and use up most of my space when using the Hybrids.

I find both bullets easy to tune in my Creedmoor's.

6.5 Creedmoor with 24" barrel, H4350 41.0gr velocity avg 2704, best groups at 0.070"off the lands. Shoots 0.6MOA 10 shot groups. The barrel cleans really easily with this load. I have shot several 3 shot groups under 0.1MOA with H100V hybrid but the nodes were very narrow..much more sensitive to minute powder changes but more velocity per grain.

I have found the Hybrid, no matter the caliber, to be easier to tune for and have just a wee bit better BC.

Sure wish I could find somewhere to get a box of those Scenars also....seems everyone is out except for the big quantities.
