140 class bullets in 6.5 Lapua.

I've seen that a lot of guys on here are running the 140's in their 6.5 Lapuas with success. It seems that most are using double base powders like R17 and VV. The jury seems to be out on exatly how temp sensitive these powders might be. I'm wanting some info on running the 140's without a double base powder.

I'd be happy with 2800+ fps with the the 139 Scenar or 142 SMK. Is this possible without running R17 or VV powder? What are your loads? I'm currently running a Savage action with 27" McGowen barrel with 123 Scenar's at 2920 with 37.8 Varget.

The 123's Scenars should be a good long range solution, but to answer your question, yes, there are several powders that can get you 2800+ with 139 gr. Lapua Scenars.

I use 41 gr. of R17 with the 140 berger. 2920 fps.
I use 37.2 of Varget with the 123's for 2950 fps.
