13 twist .22 cal barrel bullet stabilize?

I am thinking of putting a Bartlein 13 twist barrel on my .223. It's a Rem 700. I wonder if anybody has any experience with this twist barrel on a bolt action rifle and what weight bullets it would stabilize. I know I could prob go as heavy as 55 and hopefully a little heavier but just wonder what others experience has been. Thanks

Help me out here. What's the point of a 13? Why not a 12 and get the full b.c. out of your bullet?
Aside from that, if I were building a bolt gun, I'd go with at least a 1 in 8.

I agree with hog on this. If it will be used for hunting even more so as lead free bullets that are required in some areas won't do well with a slow twist. I have 14 twist cooper 223 that is very accurate with bullets up to 53 gr (the heaviest I've tried). Cooper is now using a 12 twist for 223's.

All the jacketed lead 55 grainers will stabilize and get full BC from a 1 in 13" twist.

Lead free is a different deal, because they are longer at a given weight.

Yes I would prefer a 12. It depends what I can find in stock. Id like to be able to shoot up to 60s.
45 years or so back, who knows? Nobody used chronographs but the load was up towards the max end.
Thanks Fellas I would prefer a 12 twist but it depends what I can find in stock. I plan to shoot 60 gr. or less at not over 300 yd so I thought if 13 would work and it's available I might try one. I had not thought of the lead free bullets. What areas are these required in?

Hoz, What contour are you looking for? Try here for a decent selection of contours in Brux barrels in 1 in 12s.

My first choice would be a Brux and Muller's second. At present I am doing a Muller 22BR in 1-12 #3 for 50 to 55 pills.
Good luck whatever you choose.
Thanks hogpatrol. I have looked at bugholes and I'm seriously considering a Brux. I will find something and I think I will stick with 12 twist.
